William "Bill" J. Lohner (91) of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on September 8, 2023.  He was born October 30, 1931, to John and Mary (Capos) Lohner in Butler, PA.  After graduating from Butler High School in 1949, he attended the University of Cincinnati, where he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of First Lieutenant.  After graduating from U.C. in 1955, he began working at the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. until his retirement in 1993.  He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, where he was recognized for his leadership, and a Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio.
He asked Jeannette Nye to dance with him at Coney Island's Moonlite Gardens and the rest is history, getting married in 1957.  They had 4 sons, Tim (Joyce), Tom, Bill (Candy), and Joe (Vera) and have welcomed 10 grandchildren, Beth, Jessica (Kreg), Steve (Michelle), Daniel, Zach, Samantha, Josh, Amelia, Micah, and Gigi, and 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kaylee. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Joseph.
He enjoyed fishing, drawing, stamp collecting, photography, golf and traveling with his loving wife Jeannette. He always supported his son's interests, whether it be collecting rocks, insects, or beer cans, building model rockets or trains, teaching sports, or camping with the Boy Scouts.  He was a model husband and father, providing advice on car maintenance, home repair and electrical work.  He taught his grand-daughter Beth to read and shared many stories of his time on the farm in Butler or at Pymatuning Lake.  He was proud of his Austrian heritage and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Cincinnati Bengals fan.  Despite severe hearing and vision loss, he maintained an interest in sports, history, and current events.  He was a devout Catholic and maintained a positive attitude, often ending his conversations with, "Okie Dokie!"
The family thanks the staff at Ohio Living Llanfair for their compassionate care, especially during his last few weeks.  Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, (September 11) at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45239. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, (September 12) at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1443 Cedar Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45224.
