With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Thomas Michael Ferris, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather and great grandfather, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 28, 2024, at the age of 77.

Born on June 3, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tom was the son of William and Rosemary Ferris. The youngest of seven siblings, Tom is survived by his big sister, Mary Jo, and preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Dan, and Pat, and his sisters, Ellen Adderly and Ann Schehr.

Tom found joy in the company of his loved ones and cherished time spent with them. As a devoted husband, Tom shared 42 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Rhonda Decker Ferris. Together, they created a loving and nurturing home for their children, Michelle Hilbert (Todd), Angie Dwyer (Dan), and Kevin Slack. Tom instilled in his children the importance of education, fiscal responsibility, how to pour the perfect pint, the convenience of a TV tray, putting your strongest soccer players on defense, and the dedication of a father for his children.

Tom was a proud and loving grandfather to Caitlin O'Neal (Joey), Carrie Hilbert, Alex Dwyer, and Ryan Dwyer, and a cherished great-grandfather to Rylee O'Neal and Reece O'Neal. Whether on a beach, at the lake, the backyard pool, any one of their sporting events, choir performances, or theater shows, Tom passionately supported his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them have fun. Their beautiful memories of time spent with Grandpa Ferris will be treasured by Caitlin, Carrie, Alex, and Ryan.

In his free time, Tom, or Big Tom as he was lovingly called, enjoyed a good cocktail and socializing with friends. Tom had a huge laugh and an incredible sense of humor. Frequently described as "the funniest guy I know" Tom brought joy and laughter everywhere he went. Tom loved to sing, first to his daughters as he played guitar, and later with a karaoke mic in hand. "Friends in Low Places" and "Help Me Rhonda" were two of Tom's go to songs for karaoke night. An avid Bearcat basketball fan, he never missed a UC game, unless they were playing XU. Then it was "Go Muskies!" all the way! Tom very much enjoyed spending time at his condominium in Woodson Bend Resort on Lake Cumberland. Golfing, walking, relaxing by the pool, or hosting friends at 64-3, all brought him immense joy. Memories of Woodson Bend Resort, the lake, and time spent there together, will forever be cherished by Tom's family and friends.

Tom was incredibly wise, serving as a source of knowledge and advice for his family and friends. A keen interest in current events led to a daily ritual of reading the newspaper from cover to cover, completing the daily crossword puzzle, and hours of FOX News. A staunch Republican, Tom would win a debate with anyone who held a differing opinion and would be quite frequently correct if challenged on any topic. As Tom's disease progressed, his children dearly missed their trusted source of guidance and insight.

We invite all who knew and loved Tom to join us in celebrating his life. Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, where we will gather to honor and remember a remarkable man who touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him.

Tom will be laid to rest in a peaceful burial at Crown Hill Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 11825 Pippin Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Roger Bacon High School. Your support of Alzheimer's Association will help advance research and help provide much needed care and support for those fighting Alzheimer's and other dementias. Supporting Roger Bacon High School will help provide educational opportunities for kids at the school so close to Tom's heart.

Thomas Michael Ferris will forever hold a special place in our hearts. His infectious laughter, his kind and gentle spirit, and his unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all. We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created and the love he shared.
