Shawn Thomas O'Brien, beloved husband of 33 years to Amy Lynn (nee High) O'Brien. Devoted father of Gwendolyn and Shea O'Brien. Dear brother of Debbie (Jos) Van Gils, Barbara (Chris Udry) O'Brien, the late Julie (Steve) Schmitz, Phillip (Mary) O'Brien, Patti (Tim) Hafner and Peggy (Paul) Behm. Dear brother-in-law of Lee Ann (Tom) McGivney and Emily (Tim) Mason. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Shawn passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the age of 66. As the oldest of seven children, Shawn was devoted to his family and determined to keep up with all extended family. His ability for the Irish gift of gab made it easy for him to be a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one.

His enthusiasm for sports including watching the Bengals, Reds, University of Cincinnati sport teams, and golf was undeniable. Though The 44's, his bowling team, was the most meaningful team to him because he was able to spend time with his son, Shea. Shawn's love of sports will be carried on through his favorite daughter, Gwendolyn. He was a devoted father who delighted in coaching many of their sports teams.
He bragged about taking his friend's money on the poker table, always enjoyed a good joke, telling a great story, and always cherished a good scotch.

Shawn had an accomplished 40+ year career in Industrial Tools Sales and was the very proud owner of OBR Consulting.
His passion for his Catholic Irish heritage and as a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) brought him much pride.

Visitation at Thomas-Justin Funeral Home, 7500 Montgomery Road 45236 on Friday (January 6) from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Church of the Nativity of Our Lord, 5935 Pandora Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45213 on Saturday (January 7) at 10am.
