Rosalind Elizabeth "Roz" Heinz of Louisville, KY, was born January 29, 1945, and passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 80. A proud graduate of Atherton High School (Class of 1963) and Hanover College (Class of 1967), Roz dedicated her life to the arts, education, and community. Her professional journey reflected her love for culture and creativity. She worked at Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, CT, and later at Yale University's Repertory Theater and School of Drama. Upon returning to Louisville, Roz contributed to the city's vibrant arts scene through the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts and later served in administrative roles with organizations such as River City Housing and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Roz was passionate about justice, equality, and inclusion. She believed deeply in fairness and worked to create spaces where everyone felt valued. Her advocacy extended beyond words-she worked for Planned Parenthood, supported organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, NPR, and PBS, and she championed causes that promoted dignity and opportunity for all.

Her commitment to community was also reflected in her involvement with Highland Baptist Church, a congregation known for its active engagement in social justice and service. Roz shared her time and talents generously, becoming a deacon, and finding fellowship with others who shared her values of compassion and equity.

She was the family historian and keeper of memories, preserving stories, artifacts, and ancestry details so future generations could cherish their roots. She loved reading, gardening, traveling, entertaining, and the art of letter writing-her beautiful handwriting and heartfelt notes remain treasured keepsakes. Roz delighted in museums, local theater, lecture series, flower festivals, and concerts, always eager to share her hometown's culture with visitors.

After her father's passing in 1986, Roz returned to Louisville to care for her mother, visiting her twice daily when she moved to a nursing facility-a testament to Roz's devotion and love. She often would bring her beloved dog, Saskatoon ("Sassy"), to share joy with her mother and the other residents., She never stopped missing Sassy after her passing.

Roz was a deeply loved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering commitment to family and community will be remembered always.Roz was preceded in death by her parents Frank Cecil Heinz, Jr and Ruth Ellsworth Olmsted Heinz. Heinz (Barbara), West Chester, OH, o Son: Todd Heinz and his children Ezra (deceased), Isaiah, Silas, and Jupiter, o Son: Adam Heinz and his children Blake, Kaleb, Abigail, Evan, Elijah, Zebediah, and Solomon

Roz's life was a beautiful tapestry of creativity, compassion, and connection. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life for Rosalind Heinz will be held at Highland Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1pm.
