It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald LeRoy Leist, Sr. on October 14, 2026. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 10, 1940 to the late Howard (late Sadie) Leist and late Ida (nee Roeller) (late Raymond) Foster. Ronald was a true Cincinnati native whose roots ran deep in the community he cherished. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a dedicated father, a loving grandfather, and a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
He was the cherished husband of the late Patsy Jean (nee Peters) Leist and a dedicated father to Ron Leist Jr., Vicki Couch, Timothy (Angela) Leist, and Ronna (Jason) Baldwin. Ron also embraced his role as a loving stepfather to Patsy (John) Woehmeyer and the late Charlie (late Vernie) Horlander. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren, each bringing light and joy into his life. Ron shared many fond moments with his sister Linda Leist and brother Ricky (Geri) Foster, alongside his late brother Howard (Mary Lou) Leist and his late stepbrother Raymond Foster.
After a remarkable career with the Cincinnati Enquirer that spanned 47 years as a pressman, Ronald played a pivotal role in the pressman union, representing the voices of many throughout his time. His passion for keeping up with current events fueled his spirited discussions. Anyone who knew him could count on a lively chat about the Cincinnati Reds or the Bengals, as sports were a significant part of his life.Ronald's love of music and movies brought calmness and joy, often serving as a soundtrack to his life. His tastes ebbed and flowed over the years, but the simple pleasure these brought him was constant throughout.
In honoring Ronald's life, a visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., on Thursday, October 22. Friends and family will gather from 12:30 PM until the time of service at 1:30 PM.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in his memory. Ronald's spirit will live on in the hearts he touched, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves behind.
As we say our goodbyes, we know that Ronald's laughter, warmth, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
