It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rae Marie Kerkhoff (nee Giffin), a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved great grandmother. Rae peacefully transitioned from this world on August 7, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by her family.

Rae leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Ralph Kerkhoff, and her children Kim (Mike) Carey, Kelly (Michele) Kerkhoff, and Kerry (Jenifer) Kerkhoff. She was a proud grandmother of Joshua (Kindra), Shane, Kelsey, Katie, and the late Cameron, and a doting great grandmother of Hunter, Layla, and Koe. Rae's presence in her family's lives was a gift, and her memory will forever be treasured.

Rae's passions were many and varied. As a Registered Nurse, she dedicated her life to caring for others. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dorcus Chapter #277. Rae found joy in spending time with her family, especially at their A-frame by the river in Indiana, where she enjoyed boating, water skiing, and cookouts.

A lover of exploration, Rae relished long drives to discover new destinations. She had visited nearly every state in the US (except Alaska), admiring the beauty of national parks. Rae delighted in trying new restaurants, taking in stray animals, and testing her luck at the casinos. Her green thumb was evident in her love of gardening and her extensive knowledge of flowers.

Visitation for Rae will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Road, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 10:00 am, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm. Rae's legacy of love, compassion, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time. Rae will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love. May she rest in peace.
