Matt T O'Rourke passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on December 14, 2023. Matt was born on March 1, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to Marion and John O'Rourke (deceased).  Matt is survived by his wife, Beth and his children Lara (son-in-law Mark Mortimer and grandson Zack), son John (daughter-in-law Lisa Schmidt) O'Rourke and grandchildren Jacob and Anna) and daughter Sarah (son-in-law Mike Duffy). Also survived by his sister-in-law Judy O'Rourke and his nieces Mary Villarreal and Ann Rogers. Matt was preceded in death by Katharine O'Rourke and baby Jennifer. Katharine was the loving mother of Lara. He was also preceded in death by his brother Michael and his nephew Shawn. Matt grew up helping his parents grow the flowers in their Perennial Nursery business and loved gardening and the outdoors. He enlisted in the Navy after high school and served four years for his country as an Avionics Technician for "Operation Deep Freeze". "Operation Deep Freeze" flew regular missions to Antarctica to support US Bases. When he returned home he worked at General Electric and then at R A Jones, Inc. Later he operated O'Rourke Hardy Perennials with his mother and worked at Panel Fab, Inc. His favorite pastimes were playing Euchre, gathering wildflowers and hunting. He enjoyed many wonderful times fishing and camping at the family farm with his wife, children and grandchildren. Many friends and family said he made the area look like a park because of the ornamental grasses and flowers that he planted there. Matt will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made over the years. So please raise a glass and toast to a life well lived! Memorial visitation at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd., on Wednesday (Dec. 20) from 4:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 6:30 PM.
