Mary Elizabeth Ruhe (nee Schaber), age 87, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 12, 2024.

Mary was a faith-filled woman who touched many lives. She loved and cherished her family most. She was interested in each person she met, accepting and loving all. She was both prayerful and playful. She was a homemaker and long-time parishioner of St. James the Greater Church White Oak.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer Ruhe, and by her sisters Joan Fischer (Al) and Audrey Plye.

She is survived by her grateful family: 5 children: Steve Ruhe (Connie), Mike Ruhe (Peggy), Dennis Ruhe (Susan), Beth Gideon (Terry) and Karen Orth (Mike). 13 grandchildren: Natalie Ruhe Thomas (Stuart), Mark Ruhe; Ann Marie Heise (Graham), David Ruhe, Christine Ruhe, Eric Ruhe (Sarah); Nick Ruhe, Melanie Gibboney (Patrick); John Gideon (Emily), Rachel Creamer-Gideon (Adam); Katherine Togher (Sheamus), Mary Wickline (Alex) and David Orth. 5 great-grandsons: Ansel and Rhys Thomas, Anthony Ruhe, Louis Gibboney and Charlie Gideon.

Mary also is survived by her sister Barbara Dolfinger Neville (Ed) and brother Joe Schaber (Mickey) and brother-in-law Dick Plye, as well many nieces and nephews and friends of all ages.

Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. on Friday (January 19) from 9am-11am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Greater Church, White Oak, 3565 Hubble Road at 11:30am.
