Mary Patricia "Pat" Wood (née Berning), 95 passed away peacefully in her recliner in her bedroom at Twin Towers Retirement Community in the morning of 25 June, 2023. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Lillian (Mary Lee), son-in-law Ian Stuart Edwards, grandson Stuart Norbert Edwards, and step-granddaughter Sarah Jane Edwards. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Wood, and all her siblings, Dr. Donald Berning, Jeanne Connor, Margaret Wais, James Berning and Richard Berning, and parents Norbert and Lillian (Bergman) Berning. Pat was the definition of an independent woman. Widowed after 6 months of marriage, she gave birth to Mary Lee 7 months later. She raised Mary Lee in her own image, teaching her the importance of loving family & friends, as well as being honest, hard working and accountable. She kept a meticulous home (especially in her earlier years!) where she and Mary Lee resided with her father who passed away in 1982. Pat was a devout Catholic. She adored her family, her friends, her garden, and birds. She kept a fastidious watch over her garden, even to be featured for it in the Cincinnati Enquirer. She kept the same attention to her family, cultivating them like the most precious flowers. The family will be forever grateful to the compassionate and amazing staff of Twin Towers who assisted her in her final years and sat with her in her final moments. Visitation will be held at 8:30 am on Friday, June 30 followed by 9:30 Mass at Saint Therese Little Flower Church, 5560 Kirby Ave, Cincinnati, 45239. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, St. Bernard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Norbert J.
