In loving memory of Mary Katherine (nee Simpkins) Wetternacht. Who passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on April 1, 2024, at the age of 73.  She was born in Cincinnati, OH on August 18, 1950, Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary found joy in the simple things in life. She adored playing card games such as bingo, indulged in crafting, and was an avid fan of wrestling. While she enjoyed these things, she truly adored her grandchildren and cherished the moments spent with them, she always lit up in their presence as her eyes would sparkle with delight whenever she was surrounded by them.

As devoted family woman, she shared 53 years of cherished marriage with her husband, Wendel Wetternacht. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them. She was a loving mother of Cecilia (Jessica Stone) Wetternacht and Jessica (Robert) Reed. A cherished grandmother of Luneah O'Brian, Lettie Picone, Alyssa (Steve) Petruska, Lauren Doughtery, Kyle (Haily) Doughterty, Tyler (Hayley) Doughterty, Carla (Keith) Lewis, Bessie Reed, Jamie Reed, Bobby Reed Jr., late Mathew O'Brian, and late Madeline Doughterty. Great grandmother of 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Dear sister of Annette (late John) Koch, Lawrence (Connie) Simpkins, Patricia (Norman Haizlip) Waddell and late Edward (late Sue) Simpkins Jr. Stepsister of Lisa Simpkins and late George Simpkins. Sister-in-law of Rosemary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Simpkins Sr. and Cecilia (Anthony) Yaegel.  Mary also enjoyed strong bonds with her nieces, and nephews, cousins, and friends, always finding joy in connecting with her family. The family would like to a give special thanks to Mary's caregiver, Ms. Eve. As she was very patient and helpful during Mary's time of need.

Mary's vibrant spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Visitation at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd., on Thursday (April 4) from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at Frederick Funeral Home Family Center. Mary's memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who knew her. As we gather to honor her life, let us remember the laughter, love, and light she brought into the world. May her soul rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely during her time on this earth. May she rest in peace, knowing she was cherished and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
