In loving memory of Mary Ethel Etzel, who was born on April 16, 1934, in Ft. Knox, KY and was the cherished daughter of the late Fred and Helen Gilbert. She passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 91 and was a beacon of love and warmth, leaving behind a legacy woven with compassion and joy.

Mary's loving spirit shines brightly through her family. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, the late Thomas Peter Etzel. Together, they built a nurturing home for their children: Cynthia (William) Schmidt, Arthur (Norma Davis) Etzel, and Millie (Mike) Nie. Mary held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, late Bryan Schmidt, Kevin Schmidt, Joie Etzel, Thomas Etzel, Melissa Treat, Samantha Etzel, Matthew Nie, Marc Nie, Amber Etzel, and Michelle Nie. A proud great-grandmother, Mary adored her great-grandchildren, Bryan Jr., Koby, Tristen, Kadence, Baylee, late Zoey, Scottie, Lucas, Alyssa, Jayden, Austin, Thomas, Raelynn, Kolten, Jeremiah, Kal-el, Logan T., and Logan E., as well as her great-great-grandchildren Natalia, Emilia, and Olivia. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Gloria Hein, who will carry the memories of their shared laughter and love.

Mary brought joy to everyone she encountered, whether through her love for chair volleyball, bingo, or the art of sewing. Her radiant smile and infectious humor had the power to light up any room, and she cherished every moment spent with her beloved family. Mary's memory will live on through the countless stories filled with affection that her family will share for generations to come.

In honoring Mary Ethel Etzel, a visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to pay their respects and celebrate a life so richly lived In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association , P.O.
