Marlene (nee James) McDonald, dear mother of Michele (Jim) Gettler, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023. Loving grandmother of Maura (Brian), Joe, and Ben and great-grandmother of Liam. Caring sister of Ron (Susan), Jim (Eileen), and Tom (Terrie). Marlene was born on February 24, 1943, to the late Marcella Becker James and Stiron James in Cincinnati, Ohio. She found great joy, pride, and friendship in participating in various clubs including Women in Construction, Rosie Reds, Purple Deers, Red Hats, St. Ignatius Seniors, and Scarf-It-Up.  She could regularly be found with her nose in a book or chatting away with the "porch ladies." A heartfelt thank you is extended to the nurses and staff of The Wellington, Christ Hospital Cancer Center, and Hospice of Cincinnati at Twin Towers for their exceptional care during Marlene's battle against pancreatic cancer.

Marlene's celebration of life will occur on Friday, January 20, with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Martin of Tours (3720 St. Martins Place) followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA ( 11900 Conrey Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249 ) or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network ( 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, California 90266 ).
