It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph J. Moellman MD, a beloved husband, distinguished ER physician, and cherished friend, who left us unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on November 15, 1965, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James J. and late Rosemary (nee Henner) Moellman.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Kim (nee Riede) Moellman of 34 years, who remains forever grateful for the love and laughter they shared. Devoted father of Josh (fiancé Myra) Moellman and Jordan (Kaila) Moellman. Dear brother of Mary Ann Moellman and Jennifer (John) Berling. Brother-in-law of Jeff Riede, Tim Riede and Mike (Linda) Riede. Loving uncle of Nicholas Moellman, Jacob Riede and Cate Riede. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories and unwavering support.

Joe was a humble man with a heart of gold, whose laughter and humor brought joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for history was matched only by his devotion to his family, whom he supported immensely throughout his life. Joe lived simply, finding pleasure in the little things, with a cup of black coffee often in hand and the companionship of his beloved beagle mix, Eddie, by his side.

He made a significant impact on the lives of numerous patients and colleagues during his 34 years as an ER doctor. His compassion and dedication to the well-being of others were evident in every interaction he shared. Joe's contributions to the field of emergency medicine garnered him both national and international recognition, a testament to his exceptional skill and unwavering commitment to his patients. His legacy will continue through all those he touched throughout his life and career.

Outside of his medical career, Joe was a man of meticulous nature, finding fulfillment in nurturing his lawn and garden, which he kept in pristine condition. His love for the tranquility of nature extended to his beautifully maintained coral and saltwater fish tank, a source of joy and serenity in his home.

A proud alum of LaSalle High School, Joe had a passion for music that never faded. He found deep joy in watching DCI Band competitions and supporting local high school bands. His spirit resonated with the rhythms of life, echoing fond memories from his own days as a member of the LaSalle High School Band.

A devoted sports fan, Joe was a fervent supporter of Notre Dame Football and Xavier University Basketball. Saturdays and game days brought him great joy, and he cherished the moments spent cheering for his teams alongside friends and family.

In honor of Joe's life and spirit, a visitation will be held at White Oak Christian Church, 3675 Blue Rock Rd., on Wednesday (February 26), from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, allowing friends and family to come together and celebrate the remarkable man he was. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his memory at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 4366 Bridgetown Rd., on Thursday (February 27) at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital , Attn: Kasey Fischesser, Cincinnati Children's, 3333 Burnet Avenue, MLC 9002, Cincinnati, OH 45229-3026 in memory of Dr. Joseph J. Moellman for his medical research that he has graciously done through UC Hospital and to honor his daughter-in-law Kaila who continues her life with cancer.
