John W. Hoekstra, Sr., beloved husband of the late Bertha "Bea" (nee Kaim) Hoekstra. Devoted father of Kim Matthew (Mary) Hoekstra and John Walter (Teresa) Hoekstra. Loving grandfather of Kim (Samantha) Hoekstra Jr., Scott (Hope) Hoekstra and Maria (Brandon) Rottmueller. Great grandfather of Elizabeth, Braxton, Mabel and Max. Preceded in death by his siblings Aida Kelly, Walter Hoekstra, Mary Kuyper, Neal Hoekstra and Jim Hoekstra. John passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the age of 89. John proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He was a retired City of Cincinnati Firefighter after 34 years of service. A memorial gathering will take place at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. on Thursday (April 29) from 5pm until time of memorial service at 6:30pm.
