He was born on October 4, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio and peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. James will be forever remembered by his beloved wife, the late Carol Ruthman, his cherished daughters Andrea (Brian) Gadd and Amy (Joe) Pegram, his adored grandchildren Chase, the late Jayden, Mason, and Gracie, and his dear siblings Kay, Anita, Thomas, and Jerry. James will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family, and his memory will live on through stories filled with love and laughter.

James found joy in the simplest of pleasures, from golfing with his wife to trying his luck at the casino. He was a man who valued family above all else, sharing in endless laughter and creating cherished memories with those he held dear. His quick wit and infectious humor brightened many family gatherings, always knowing how to create joyous memories. Often recognized for his impatience, James would playfully encourage everyone to "move it along" when he was ready to embark on the next adventure. His family meant the world to him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A visitation to honor James's life will be held at the Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Animal Adoption Foundation at 2480 Millville Rd., Hamilton, OH 45013, or to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, in James's memory.
