With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Krismer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected member of the Cincinnati Community.  Jim was a life-long resident of Ohio and passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, at the age of 90.  He was a graduate of Roger Bacon H.S. and proud owner of Krismer's Northgate Greenhouses. For over 30 years, he shared his love of flowers with his customers at both his Compton Road and Findlay Market locations.

A devoted family man, he was blessed with 64 years of marriage with his wife, LaVerne (née Armbruster) Krismer whom he met while dancing the Jitterbug. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them. He was the loving father of Kathleen Krismer Wood, Mary Ellen Krismer, Theresa (Fred) Hammerle, Ann (Eric) Reichert, and Martha (Steven) Schneider. Cherished grandfather of Eric Wood, Krista (J. Patrick) Rohan, Dana Hammerle (fiancé Ryan Ziels), Nicholas Reichert, Rebecca Reichert, Justin Schneider, Benjamin Schneider, Jessica Schneider, and Brian Schneider. Great-grandfather of Alexis Rohan and Shelby Rohan. Dear brother of Marian (John) Stubenrauch and Martha (late Carl David) Fischer. He was preceded in death by his parents Seraphine "Doc" and Martha Krismer. Jim also enjoyed strong bonds with his many cousins, nieces and nephews, always finding joy in family gatherings.

Jim's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement in various associations as he actively participated in the Colerain Business Association and the Cincinnati Flower Growers Association, where he proudly served as past president.  His passion for flowers took him to the Findlay Market Association, where he continued a family legacy by selling his flowers for generations. His green thumb and dedication were recognized with numerous awards at the Cincinnati Ault Park Flower Show, a testament to his talent and commitment to his craft.

As a man of faith and service, Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army. Completing his legacy of service and patriotism, Jim displayed the American flag outside his home daily, reflecting his dedication to his country with pride. His impact on those around him was immeasurable, leaving a lasting mark on the lives he touched.

He was a lifelong member of the Northside Knights of Columbus Council 1683, actively participating and holding several board positions for over six decades and receiving the 2022-23 Pillar Award for his service to the organization.

His love of  sports extended to playing in the Knights of Columbus bowling and softball leagues, where he enjoyed friendly competition with his friends, and even brought home a championship trophy with his bowling team. He was a dedicated supporter of the Xavier University basketball program and season ticket holder for many years, even following the team to New York for several of their conference tournaments.

His life will be celebrated and honored at the upcoming funeral services. Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home on Wednesday April 17th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, where friends and family can gather to share memories and pay their respects. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on  Thursday April 18th at 10:30 am.  Memorials may be made to Northside Knights of Columbus Council 1683 , 3144 Blue Rock Rd. In honoring Jim's life, we remember his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his country. His kindness, generosity, quick smile, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. May his spirit continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew him, his memory forever fragrant as the flowers he so lovingly tended.
