James John Falls, affectionately known as Jim, was born on August 27, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Paul E. and late Mary (nee Bonini) Falls. He passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, just days shy of his 87th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jim was the devoted husband of the late Betty Jean (nee Smith) Falls and a cherished father to his daughters, Lori (Brian) Brunderman, Christine (late Danny) Zang, Amiee Falls Senters, and Ingrid (James) Hamilton. He took immense pride in his family and especially cherished his role as a grandfather to James Zang, Eric (Annie) Zang, Joseph Zang, Kayla (Jordan) Bailey, Andrew (Jordan) Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton, Clay Hamilton, and Emma (Burch) English. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Jace, Carson, Judah, and Myla, all of whom brought him tremendous joy. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Kay Donahue, mother of Codi (Scott) Strauss and the late Lisa Stevens. Jim was close to the family of Mary Lou (Ernie) Caines, first wife and mother of his daughters, Lori, Chris and Amiee, reflecting a strong family connection throughout the years. A 1957 graduate of Roger Bacon High School, Jim went on to attend the University of Cincinnati, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1961. He was an accomplished athlete in his youth, excelling in baseball, football and basketball. As a father, he shared his love of the outdoors and adventure with his children, creating treasured family memories around horses and outdoor activities. Throughout his life, Jim embraced many passions. He enjoyed golf, racquetball, bowling and spirited games of euchre with family and friends. He loved to travel, took pleasure in cooking, and appreciated the simple comforts of home. Many who knew him will remember him relaxing at sunset with a fine cigar and a glass of scotch, taking in life's quiet moments with gratitude and contentment. Above all, Jim will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His influence and example will continue to live on in our hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45239 on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 5:00- 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Jim's life will be held at St. James Church, 3565 Hubble Rd., White Oak, Ohio on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and thanksgiving for a life so beautifully lived. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Roger Bacon High School, 4320 Vine St, Cincinnati, OH 45217, honoring Jim's appreciation for education and the community that shaped life.Jim's life was defined by love, family, friendship, and countless treasured moments. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the many lives he touched.
