In loving memory of James Allen Geverts, who graced this world with his kindness and warmth, we remember a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud U.S. veteran. Born on August 14, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH to the late Lola (nee Behymer) and late Alvin F. Geverts, Jr., he peacefully departed this life on December 2, 2024, at the age of 88. James lived a life filled with love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for both family and nature.

James was a proud alumnus of Withrow High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati. His commitment to serving his country led him to the military, where he was stationed in Germany. It was there that he united in marriage with Lois (nee Grayson) Geverts on October 3, 1961, in Frankfurt, Germany. Their love story blossomed across Europe, as Lois joined him, traveling together every weekend to explore the beauty and culture of the continent forging memories that would last a lifetime.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lois, and their cherished children: Douglas (Jean) Geverts, Maryellen Geverts, and Lisa Geverts. He was also a grandfather to Samantha and Nathan Geverts.

A man of many passions, James found joy in gardening, swimming, and traveling. He embraced the ocean wholeheartedly, becoming scuba certified by the age of 40, allowing him to share his passion for the sea with friends and family through countless diving trips to breathtaking islands. His enthusiasm for the beauty of nature and the serenity of the sea shaped not just his life, but the lives of those who loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until time of blessing at 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Living Llanfair Chapel, 1701 Llanfair Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45224.  Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate James's life, share cherished memories, and honor the profound impact he had on all of us.
