Herbert R. Pahren, 96, died January 5, 2026, after a period of declining health.

A native of St. Bernard, Ohio he was born on October 20, 1929, to the late Aloysius J. Pahren and Bernadine M. Telintelo. He was married for 61 years to the late Mary K. Bachmann Pahren. Dear father of four children: the late Roger A. (Lanna) Pahren, Kathleen M. (Timothy) Galligan of Harrison, Ohio, Barbara J. (Michael) Kunkel, of Trenton, Ohio and Patrice M. (John) Saniel-Banrey of Ostrander, Ohio. He is also survived by sister Ruth A. Linesch, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers Raymond Pahren, Robert Pahren, Charles Pahren, sister Mary Ellen Trischler and great-granddaughter Kaylie Galligan.

He was retired by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and published numerous articles about his research.

Visitation at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday (January 13) from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be sent to Alzheimer's Association , American Heart Association or charity of donor's choice. Frederick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
