In loving memory of Gustavo Zapata, who was born in Colombia on May 26, 1938, and was a cherished son of the late Carlos and Teresa Zapata. Gustavo peacefully passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of his family. Gustavo touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew him.

Gustavo embarked on a new adventure as he ventured from Colombia to the United States in 1967, where he embraced the challenges and joys of life with unwavering determination. He built a life he could be proud of, ultimately providing a nurturing and loving home for his family. As a devoted husband to Margarita Zapata for 62 beautiful years, together they shared countless memories and moments of joy. His love was a guiding light for his two daughters, Anna (Kurt) Elam and Maria (Doug) Graef. His legacy of love extends to his beloved grandchildren—Joshua (Katelyn) Elam, Jessica Elam, Alexandra (Lirim) Haliti, Kyle Graef (Carson McDonald) and Jeremy (Libby) Graef—and his proud great-grandchildren: Skylar, Luke, Adea, and Anny. Gustavo will also be remembered as a dear brother to the late Carlos Zapata, late German Zapata, Richard Zapata, and Maria Teresa Zapata. His connection to family was deep and abiding, always present to support and celebrate each milestone with his infectious warmth and humor. Gustavo will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family, and his memory will live on through stories filled with love and laughter.

Gustavo cherished the serenity of the outdoors and had a profound appreciation for his faith which he nurtured as he spent his final years deepening his spiritual journey and seeking a closer relationship with God. His solace in his relationship with God, reflected the beauty of creation and the importance of family. He possessed a sparkle in his eyes and a warm smile that could brighten anyone's day, and he had a unique ability to make friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger, sharing laughter and stories that will forever be cherished. He was a beacon of light, embodying kindness and generosity to all who crossed his path.

As we come together to honor Gustavo's memory, we invite all who were touched by his spirit to join us in a beautiful tribute filled with love, laughter, and remembrance. Though he will be missed dearly, his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
