It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald L. Steele. Known affectionately as Jerry, he passed away on May 27, 2024, Memorial Day, at the age of 82. Born on May 10, 1942, Jerry proudly served in the Navy for 10 years. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, which he utilized throughout his career. He retired from Citrus Memorial Hospital in Florida as its Director of Plant Operations. His dedication to his country and his profession was matched only by his love for his family and friends.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. He was a beloved husband of almost 44 years to Stephanie (nee Shelton) Steele. Devoted father of Sandra Steele, Stacey (Ken) Honoski, and Jessica (Chris) Steele-Sanders. Cherished grandfather of Jordan (Jessica) Robinson, Chase (Lindsey) Robinson, Mallory Robinson, Kaitlyn (Peter) Cunningham, and Holli (Christian) DiGiovanni. Loving great grandfather of Natalie, John, Brooke, Everett, Hugh, and Jack. Dear brother of Rick Steele, Lee (late Carolyn) Matthews, and Art (Carole) Matthews. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends. Jerry valued his family connections deeply and shared many cherished moments with them.

Jerry was known for his passion for watching all sports. As an avid sportsman himself, he enjoyed bicycling, running, as well as playing golf, tennis and racquetball, always finding joy and camaraderie in staying active. He was a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cincinnati Reds, delighting in watching his favorite teams compete. Jerry was also known for his love of reading, a passion that he shared with those around him. His compassion extended to animals, as he was an enthusiastic pet owner who treasured his furry companions. His love for animals led him to care for numerous pets throughout his lifetime. Jerry's interests and hobbies were diverse, reflecting his colorful personality and zest for life.

To celebrate Jerry's life and honor his memory, a visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. from 9:30 am. - 10:30 am on Friday (June 7). Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Ann Church, 2900 Galbraith Rd., at 11:00 a.m. After mass in the gathering space will be military honors. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating Jerry's life and offering support to his loved ones during this difficult time.
