Frank Henry Herbort, affectionately known as Moose, passed away peacefully on March 1st at the age of 82. His departure was preceded by the loss of his beloved wife, Diane Kathryn Denier, his spouse of 47 years and childhood sweetheart since they first met in second grade at Little Flower School. Frankie often reminisced about the wonderful childhood provided by his parents, Frank and Marcella Otte Herbort, in their picturesque English Tudor home on Kirby Avenue in Mt. Airy, His early years were filled with adventures alongside friends and family, often cycling around Cincinnati, notably to his father's establishment, Herbort's Cafe in Northside, or visiting his aunt in Reading, all at the tender age of seven. The journey back up the formidable hill was sometimes eased, if lucky, by hitching rides with milkmen or delivery trucks. His days enriched with the excitement of the family's first television set, fishing, participation in school activities and sports, enjoying daily family meals, completing chores, horseback riding at the nearby stables, playing in the creek and dancing to Elvis.
By the age of fifteen, Frankie was biking to Spring Grove Cemetery for his first job mowing lawns. A graduate of the Roger Bacon High School, class of 1960, he juggled multiple jobs in his early adult years, delivering beer for both Burger Brewery and late Hudepohl Brewery alongside evening shifts at Kroger grocery. In 1973, he trained as an electrician and began working for his father-in-law, Howard Denier, at Denier Electric. There, he dedicated the bulk of his career to organizing the warehouse, a role he fulfilled until his retirement at the age of 77.
Frank was an avid gardener and lover of wildlife, passions he acquired from his father. He cultivated stunning rosarian gardens and maintained a serene backyard habitat. His leisure time was spent with family enjoying the Reds, cards, billiards, darts and gambling. Frank was honest, kind, funny and a good friend to many. He will be missed. He is mourned by his loving children, Lori (Michael) Frey and Michael (Kristy) Herbort, along with his grandchildren, Mitchel (Kelly), Alyssa, Lauren and Nolan Frey, Angela (Gabriel) Kopp, Craig, and Joseph Herbort, Patrick and Daniel Kennedy. His life if also celebrated by nine great-grandchldren and his sister, Carolyn (Edward) Oehler. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Robert (Marilynn) and Donald Herbort. Frank;s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.
