Ethel Marie (nee Ostenkamp) Hoffman, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, beloved aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on January 6, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Paul John and late Ethel Marie (nee Gallagher) Ostenkamp.

Ethel was the beloved wife of the late Charles Harold Hoffman, D.D.S., and an adoring mother to the late Steven C. Hoffman (Susan) and Carolyn Hoffman Sims (Randy). She found immense joy in her role as the loving grandmother of Martha Anne Sims Sommerer (Mahlon) and Andrew Sims, and she treasured the moments spent with her great-granddaughters, Ashlynn Grace and Ayla Jade Sommerer. She is also survived by her dear sister Carol Stutler (late Jack) and will join her siblings Frances Huber and Paul Ostenkamp (Sue) in eternal rest.

Ethel dedicated her life to caring for others. As the Activities Director in senior living facilities in Cincinnati, she brought joy and light to countless lives, embodying her deep-rooted passion for elder care. Ethel held close the memories of family gatherings at their beloved lake house on Middle Bass Island, where stories were shared and bonds grew deeper under the sunlit skies.

Ethel's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with compassion, travel adventures, and the joy of being surrounded by her family and friends. She found joy in the company of her grandchildren, fostering a deep and lasting bond with both of them. Her warmth, humor, and wisdom will be profoundly missed.

Visitation at Frederick Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. then followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ethel's life will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 3565 Hubble Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45247 at 11:00 AM. With burial to follow at St. James Cemetery across the street.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mental Matters Mission, supporting youth mental health care, c/o The Marty and Bob Jacobs Foundation , located at 10305 Montgomery Rd., Montgomery, OH 45242.

Ethel's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Zusman Hospice and to all who provided care and love during her time at The Gables of Westerville, where she was truly cherished.
