With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Doug Eikens, known affectionately as "Socks," on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in North College Hill, OH at the age of 57. Son of the late Elmer and Mary Eikens, Doug will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings: Steve (Patricia) Eikens, Jeff (Karen) Eikens, Marcia (Ken) Homer, and Julia Eikens. He was a caring uncle to Amanda (Josh) Jackson, Kelsey (Chris) Schaefer, Chris (Maria) Homer, Angela (JJ) Simmons, Jessica (Drake) Eaton and Andrew (Sammie) Eikens and a cherished great uncle to Bennett, Logan, Josie, Aiden, Brooks, and Miles. Doug was the godfather of Kylee.

A dedicated public servant, Doug spent 31 years as a Firefighter for North College Hill Fire Department starting as a volunteer and most recently serving as our Fire Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer and 28 years with the Colerain Township Department of Fire and EMS, serving as a Firefighter, EMT, and Fire Inspector. He was actively involved with organizations such as the Greater Cincinnati HazMat Team, Hamilton County Urban Search and Rescue (Ohio USAR Region 6), and Knights of Columbus. Through his work, he taught CPR and First Aid personally responsible for training hundreds of local residents.

A true sports enthusiast, Doug had a special place in his heart for the Reds, Bengals, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went, touching the lives of countless individuals with his kindness and genuine nature.

Visitation for Doug will be held at St. Ann Church, 2900 W. Galbraith Road, on Friday, August 23, from 5:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 24, at 9:30am at the same location. Mass will be live streamed on St. Ann Church website. ( https://saintannparish.org )
