Dorothy L. Engel (nee Taylor), a beloved matriarch, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished friend, will be celebrated for her vibrant spirit and deep commitment to family following her passing at the age of 89 on June 24, 2025. Born on January 21, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and joy, surrounded by her family, who were her greatest treasures.

Dorothy was married to Everest Engel Jr. for 64 wonderful years, during which they created a family that now spans generations. She is lovingly remembered by her children Connie (Mike) Slevin, Barb (Paul Kellard) Jasper, Barry (Kathryn Klausen) Engel, Maureen (Steve) Moormann, Elaine (Dave) Langefels, and Chris (Jenny) Engel. A proud grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 11, she reveled in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is also survived by her loving sister, Jean (late John) Timme, and her late siblings Carol (Ray) Deidesheimer and Jim (late Lois) Taylor.

A devoted homemaker, Dorothy found joy in gardening, playing cards, sewing and tackling Sudoku puzzles. She loved creating a nurturing home and was known for her knack for finding great deals while shopping. Her spirited personality made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

A visitation will take place at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Road on Monday June 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather and share treasured memories of Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held at St. James Church - White Oak, 3565 Hubble Road on Tuesday July 1, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
