In loving memory of Dolores C. Wedig, born September 2, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Dolores graced this world with her love, laughter and compassion, inspiring those around her with her strong independent spirit, her positive outlook and her "can do attitude."

She was the beloved wife for 51 cherished years to her late husband, Robert Wedig. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, as Dolores took immense pride in her calling as a loving mother to eight children: Kathy (Bob) Wedig Stevie, Peggy (Wayne) Taylor, Mary Ann (Dave) Ellerbrock, Robert (Jan) Wedig, Eileen (Jim) Slatter, Gerard (Barbara) Wedig, Diane (Tony) Kosar and James "Jim" Wedig.  She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, treasuring the moments spent with her 21 grandchildren: Annie, Michael, John, Michelle, Kelly, Dan, Lauren, Kevin, Andrew, Tony, Erin, John, Chris, Nick, Ryan, Therese, Matthew, Laura, Daniel, Rob and Alex. Dolores was also a loving great-grandmother, extending her nurturing spirit to her 22 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Albert Klosterman, Emily Faulkner, Dorothy Dumford, Margaret Williamson, Eleanor Schuetz, Edith Fey and Ralph Klosterman, all of whom surely welcomed her with open arms.

Faith, family, music and education were the cornerstones of Dolores's life. A devout Catholic, she was an active parishioner at St. James Church since 1972, participating in daily Mass and sharing coffee and laughter with dear friends afterward. She found a special joy in music and had a song in her heart and on her lips for every time and circumstance.  She made her home a place of love and warmth and welcomed all who came to visit, while also traveling far and wide to strengthen precious bonds with her children and grandchildren.

Dolores and her husband Bob firmly believed in the value of education and were proud of the advanced education and degrees that their children received.  Her own desire to attend college could not be fulfilled when she was young, but with her spirit of determination, she was able to complete her bachelor's degree in special education at the age of 52 while also teaching as a preschool special education teacher.  Her career in special education spanned twenty years.  Dolores showed unwavering support and compassion for the special education community, actively participating in events such as the Special Olympics.

Dolores C. Wedig will be remembered for her profound love of family, faith, music and lifelong learning.  She will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held on Saturday (February 8) from 8:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. James Church, 3565 Hubble Road, at 11:00 a.m. where loved ones can share their memories and celebrate her extraordinary life.
