It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Christa A. Olding, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, who left this world peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family. Christa was born on March 14, 1935, in Osnabrück, Germany, to the late Johannes Franz and late Theresa A. (nee Hagemann) Westermeyer and moved to the United States at the young age of 14. It was here that she dedicated her life to nurturing her family in a warm and loving home, ensuring that laughter and kindness filled their lives.

Christa's family was her pride and joy as she shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late John E. Olding. Together, they fostered a home filled with love, as she nurtured her 12 children, Tom (Linda) Olding, Mike (Diane) Olding, Cathy (Ken) McFarland, Patty (Ed) Williams, Tim (Amy) Olding, Joe (Sally) Olding, Mary Telinda, Lisa (Doug) Lusby, Gerry (Sandra) Olding, John (Christine) Olding, Susie (Kenny) Knowles, and Cyndi (Ronnell) Mapp with boundless affection and warmth, creating a welcoming home filled with cherished memories. Her legacy of love extends to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit with them always. A caring sister, Christa is also remembered fondly by her siblings Nick (Carol) Westermeyer, Fred (Marilyn) Westermeyer, and her late brother Ferd (Betty) Westermeyer. Her family will forever hold her memory close, recounting the cherished stories and shared laughter that defined her remarkable life.

Christa's caring spirit extended beyond her family as she devoted herself to her work as a registered nurse at Vitas Hospice, where her compassion touched countless lives. A devout Catholic, she was active in the Catholic Kolping Society, the St. James church choir and the bereavement committee. Her faith provided her with peace and strength throughout her life. Christa found solace in her faith, and her spirit shone brightly in the community she loved to serve.

Christa cherished her health and remained vibrant as she actively participated in the Silver Sneakers program at the YMCA, finding joy not only in staying fit but also in building friendships with those around her.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Christa's life. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025, at Frederick Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM. On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a funeral mass will take place at St. James Church - White Oak at 10:00 AM.
