Carolyn A. (nee Pratt) Godbey, beloved wife of Albert "Bud" Godbey. Devoted mother of Mark (Jan) Godbey, Matthew (Diana) Godbey, Luke Godbey and John Godbey. Doting grandmother of Ellen, Grant, Jess, Ryan and Daniel. Great grandmother of Ella and Mara. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and nurtured without fail. Preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Marshall. Carolyn was born a coal miner's daughter in the hills of eastern Kentucky. Her simple but hard early years were the foundation of her inner strength and faith in God. For over 50 years, Carolyn was an active member of Our Lady of Grace and Holy Family parishes, ensuring that her four sons were also educated in the Catholic faith. Carolyn enjoyed her 25+ years of service to Shillito's/Macy's. She photographed every joyous event in her life, leaving a legacy for all to enjoy. While holding hands with her beloved husband of 60 years, Carolyn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 80. Visitation at Frederick Funeral home, 2553 Banning Road on Monday (May 22) from 5:00PM – 8:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church, 3006 West 8 ^th Street, on Tuesday (May 23) at 11:30AM. Graveside service at St. Joseph – New Cemetery. Reception at The Farm on Anderson Ferry Road.
