With heavy hearts yet warm memories, we announce the passing of Billie Mae (nee Brooks) Smithson, who left this world peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, Chuck Smithson. Born on February 3, 1958, in Ft. Thomas, KY to the late Billy H. Brooks and late Mae E. (nee Baldwin) Highhouse. Billie dedicated her life to her family, her friends, and the many joys that lit up her days. Billie was the beloved wife of Charles Smithson Jr. for nearly 49 wonderful years, sharing a love that was the foundation of their family. She was the devoted mother to Chuck (Mary) Smithson, and a loving mamaw to her grandsons, Charlie and Jack, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support will always be remembered. A cherished sister to the late Mike (Yvonne) Brooks, Tina (late Bobby) Hughes, Terry Fornash, Donald (Teresa Meyer) Smithson, Tammy Lemon, and Mike (Georgia) Smithson, Billie treasured her family bonds, and her kindness and warmth flowed through the many nieces and nephews with whom she created countless treasured memories. Billie's vibrant personality shone through her many passions. She loved dining at her favorite restaurants, a true foodie at heart, and shared countless joyful moments over meals with family and friends. Billie was deeply rooted in her community, passionately cheering on Highlands High School, especially their football team, for countless years. Her infectious enthusiasm touched the lives of students, parents, and fellow supporters alike, making her a beloved fixture at the games. She had a particular fondness for shopping trips, and her laughter could brighten the most ordinary of days. A lover of the arts, she found solace and excitement in the music of "Phantom of the Opera." Her deep affection for creatures great and small was evident in her love for her pets, especially her cherished cats.As we reflect on Billie's beautiful life-a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments-we find comfort in the warmth of her spirit. She embraced life with open arms, and in turn, was embraced by those who were fortunate to know her.The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Baptist Village Nursing Home in Erlanger, whose care and support were invaluable to Billie in her later years. They made a profound difference in her life, and for that, we are eternally thankful.The family invites all who loved Billie to join them in honoring her memory. Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. The service will be a heartfelt gathering, filled with shared stories, laughter, and tears, as we remember the love and joy she brought into our lives.In honor of Billie's legacy, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Baptist Village Nursing Home in Erlanger, reflecting the kindness and care she received.As we gather together on that day, we will hold Billie Mae in our hearts forever-a bright light of love and laughter that will never fade.
